Wake up call came early this morning when the alarm went off at 3:30 am. We hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since. We flew from Nashville to Houston and before we knew it we were on the ground in El Salvador.
When we arrived in El Salvador around noon and immediately went to States Diner for a highly-anticipated lunch. After we stuffed our faces we went souvenir shopping and bargained with the locals on their handmade crafts. Once we made it to the mission house a few of us went straight to work by going next door to the women’s transition home and painted the outside walls. It was a small task to start of the busy week but it will be impactful nonetheless. We settled into the mission house this evening and had pizza for dinner.Tonight, we went and fed the people that were homeless and less fortunate. I am honestly struggling to put my thoughts into words. It reminds me of what Jesus says in Matthew 25 when He tells us that when we feed and clothes these individuals, the least of these Jesus says, we are doing to Him. That chapter hits home a little more after night’s like tonight. Experiences like these are humbling but helps you realize that more work needs to be done. We simply gave them a sandwich, chips, an apple and a drink, but it meant so much! The bags that we handed out also had shirts in them. There was a woman that got a long sleeve shirt in her bag and it was like we had given her the best gift that we could have. She celebrated when she saw the church. The harvest is plentiful and we are excited to be laborers of Christ this week. Continue to keep us in your prayers and God Bless!
